7 Insightful Tips For Entrepreneurial Growth

7 Insightful Tips For Entrepreneurial Growth
Lots of things make people decide to become entrepreneurs. Sometimes it’s a dream, other times it’s a job loss. For many people, it’s about wanting a different kind of lifestyle.

Making the leap into entrepreneurship creates a whole new set of challenges. One of the most pressing challenges is entrepreneurial growth.

Even if you aren’t looking for constant growth in your business, periodic growth must happen. Growth offers new revenue streams, expanded internal resources, and the option to stop pouring every waking minute into your business.

So what can you do to drive this entrepreneurial growth? Let’s take a closer look.

Entrepreneurial Growth Means Saying No, Sometimes

When you’re first starting out, it’s often necessary to take any work that comes your way. Maybe you need the money. Maybe you’re just trying to build a reputation.

There is nothing wrong with taking work for those reasons. Most entrepreneurs do it at some point.

The danger is that you’ll keep accepting all comers long after the necessity disappears. Learning to say no is a crucial skill when you get to the point that you don’t need every client.

Saying no does two important things for you. It helps you avoid committing to too much work, which taxes your entire business. It also gives you the chance to seek out and accept those opportunities that will propel your business to the next level.

Be Consistent

Consistency drives long-term success.

As an entrepreneur, you need to show up every day and do the hard work. In short, you need to be self-disciplined.

This doesn’t mean you can’t have an off day.

What consistency does do is provide you a buffer against distraction and missed deadlines. Customers won’t always compliment you on being consistent and hitting deadlines, but they will absolutely notice. They will also tell others.

A reputation for consistency will help drive growth because so many of your competitors won’t be consistent.

Develop Good Delegation Skills

Ever have one of those bosses that couldn’t let go of anything, even after they supposedly delegated it? The boss who ultimately takes something back because they’re sure they can do it better?

Many entrepreneurs are this boss. They come by this behavior honestly, as most entrepreneurs start out doing everything themselves.

Entrepreneurial growth requires that you learn good delegation skills. Every level of business growth will magnify and complicate the tasks you need to manage. At some point, it will grow beyond your capabilities.

The trick is to start delegating before you reach that point. It won’t be easy, but you’ll avoid mistakes and headaches.

Outsourcing secondary processes, like payroll, and delegating lower priority tasks to employees does one, all-important thing. It frees you up for high priority work and bringing in the new business that drives growth.

Engagement

It’s a social media world and potential customers expect to you to be there. They want status updates on Facebook, podcasts on Soundcloud and videos on YouTube. If you aren’t engaging on at least one or two social media platforms, you’re probably losing business.

Engaging with potential and existing customers isn’t about short-term revenue boosts. It’s about creating a window people can look through to learn about you or your business. Engagement also lets you cement long-term trust.

Social media provides the ideal environment to tell your brand story. This goes a long way toward generating entrepreneurial growth. People like and remember stories. They repeat stories to their friends.

Creating trust is a little trickier, but also achievable with engagement. You need to demonstrate in some way that the product or service connects with your brand values.

Blendtec founder Tom Dickson demonstrates the quality of his product on  YouTube by blending everything from iPhones to leaf rakes.

Find your version of blender plus random objects and you can build trust, too.

Stop Stressing About Perfection

It’s easy to fall into the perfectionism trap as an entrepreneur. You want your business, product or idea to do well.

The problem is that perfection is just an aspiration. No venture or product will ever be perfect because the world is constantly changing. Technologies, business models, and best practices evolve constantly.

Chasing perfection in the middle of that is setting yourself up for both disappointment and never getting started.

Instead of stumbling after unattainable perfection, aspire toward functional and good. Functional products and good ideas can be reworked over time while still letting you be in business. After all, you can’t grow what isn’t even available.

Entrepreneur, Schedule Thyself

“Wait,” you say. “Didn’t I become an entrepreneur to escape the 8-5 grind?”

You probably did, but that doesn’t mean you should adopt a random schedule. Remember when we talked about consistency earlier? Developing a schedule is part of that.

Now, this doesn’t mean keeping a schedule you hate, but some sanity must apply. Most other businesses are still operating on normal business hours. So, bare minimum, you must be available during some of the regular business hours.

Keeping a schedule makes it easier to drop into the working mindset, which will contribute to business growth all by itself. Scheduling also helps to keep you organized. The fewer calls and meetings you miss, not to mention the more deadlines you hit, the more opportunities you’ll hear about.

Take Days Off

Human beings need rest. No one can work 7 days a week, 8-12 hours a day indefinitely. You’ll start making mistakes and get burned out.

Taking time off lets you catch up on some rest, which will improve performance and creativity. It also takes you out of the business environment, where you’ll get exposed to different ideas and people. These are the fodder from which great new ideas will emerge.

As the captain of your business ship, new ideas and good performance are critical to growth.

Plus, time off may save your relationships.

Entrepreneurial growth isn’t the result of any one thing, but rather the combination of several factors.

Luck plays a role, but so does your own behavior. By setting yourself up to have time, resources and the mental bandwidth in place, you’ll be able to capitalize on opportunities to drive growth.

Self Discipline – The One Key Element To Living Your Best Life

self discipline running

Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because realizing the reward requires effort. You must sweat and push through pain. You will only get out of it, what you put into it.  I know this sounds cliche but it’s absolutely true.

Entrepreneurship and achieving your personal goals or dreams is no different..

I re-discovered running about 4 years ago after a divorce. I was looking for an outlet to deal with all the stress and emotions I was going through, so I decided to give running a try.  The last time I ran consistently was back in high school: track and field, cross country and basketball.  But I never fully appreciated how running could shape and inspire my life until I fully embraced its power in my adult life.

It was not easy to pick running back up –  I was definitely not the young and fit specimen I’d been in my youth. I was out of shape and carrying more pounds than I’d like. It was a harsh wakeup call – what had happened to me?  I wanted that ripped body back!

The first run was rough.  The next few runs were brutal.

It was challenging to run 50 meters and a mile seemed like a crazy man’s dream, but I didn’t stop. I realized it was going to be a process.  I acknowledged my condition and understood it would take time to build my strength and stamina back up.  One short run left me with searing lungs and a tight chest, sweat raining down into my eyes. Man, it was not pretty.

So this is what I did…

…Hill sprints.  This is called HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training.  It’s basically a form of interval training, an exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods.

Sprinting up hills is by far one of the most fun, effective, and practical methods for improving total body speed and power along with being a very potent stimulus for rapid body composition changes (reduced body fat percentage).

This is exactly what I needed and it worked.

Within 30 days I started running 3-4 days a week…only a mile or two at a time and it was that summer that I ran almost every day and was doing about 15 miles a week.  Yup!  I was HOOKED.  I’m sure you’ve heard of “runners’ high?”  Well, it’s real.  I quickly became addicted to that feeling and my body started reaping the rewards.  I dropped 20 lbs in 90 days and felt great.

Not only was I experiencing a transformation with my body but I was also experiencing a transformation with my mindset and a transformation in my business.   My overall life began to improve dramatically.  My health, relationships, and business all benefited from me running.

Running reveals one key element about success.

Self Discipline: Unlike almost any other form of training, running (especially hill sprints) has a way of making you work hard… once you’ve got your momentum up, you won’t want to lose it, so you’re actually compelled to maintain it or even increase your speed.  The path or hill becomes your coach… you’re compelled to work hard, you’re compelled to improve, you’re compelled to be better, you’re compelled to win…what other exercise can offer this?!?

Self Discipline – Is the key to personal achievement.

Running is considered intrinsic motivation (exercising) and it requires a lot self-discipline.  Exercise is an excellent way to enhance self- discipline.  It can train you to set goals, focus your mental and emotional energies, become physically fit, and help your relationships.  You’ll learn to work hard and strive to do your best, which in turn, will train and teach you to integrate the same mindset and discipline into your everyday life.

You know what else takes a lot of self-discipline?   Entrepreneurship, Being Committed To Your Goals and Never Giving Up On Your Dreams.

Self Discipline is the combination of belief and commitment.

No personal success, achievement, or goal, can be realized without self-discipline.

Having self discipline is all about being able to control your impulses, emotions, desires and behavior.  It’s about doing what you said you were going to do, it’s about doing what needs to be done even when you don’t feel like it.  You have to be committed.

Commitment can be hard….especially when there area doubts, fears, and obstacles. Everyone’s life contains various levels of adversity. It can be scary, and it can seem impossible to overcome. But-

Adversity met with self discipline becomes opportunity.

Life can often be difficult and challenging, but regardless of what life throws your way, you have to able to keep grinding towards your goals.  It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re at… to overcome life’s challenges, you must be committed to doing so. The bad news is, doing so can be scary, and painful. The good news is that you can become a stronger person in the process.

[pullquote align=”normal”]You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” ― Maya Angelou  [/pullquote]

The truth is people don’t give up when things are going well…you don’t need self discipline for that. You don’t give up on exercise the first day you start do you?  It’s only when things get difficult or when motivation slows that people lose the determination or self discipline to continue.

Those who develop and maintain a mindset that adversity is meant to be attacked, rather than feared, are better positioned to win at life because they have built a mindset that pushes them through obstacles instead of turning their backs on them.  Let’s face it….most people just give up.   How many times have you tried to lose weight?  Do you make “New Year’s Resolutions” that you never follow through with?  How many times have you tried to start a business or start whatever?

Let adversity into your life and embrace it.

Realize that no matter the circumstance, situation, or event, it’s only temporary.  Having this mindset will keep you centered.  The more you deal with uncomfortable circumstances the better you’ll be at handling them. This is where your self-discipline will grow and you’ll soon approach everything you want to conquer in life with unyielding determination and motivation because of it.   You’ll develop the mindset of a winner.

There are many important qualities that can contribute to a person’s achievements and happiness, but there is only one that begets sustainable, long-term success in all aspects of life: self discipline. Whether in terms of your diet, fitness, work ethic or relationships,  self discipline is the number one trait needed to accomplish goals, lead a healthy lifestyle, and ultimately, be happy. Source – Jennifer Cohen, Forbes

This why I compare running to life and entrepreneurship. The farther you go, the more challenges you face. In every race or run, you can only run against yourself and your personal best….that’s it.  What other runners and entrepreneurs are doing shouldn’t influence the way you run your own race or your own life.

Decide what it is you want and have the self discipline to just get after it no matter what!

Success Is About Making Progress

success is about making progress

Most of society is obsessed with instant gratification.

The quick fix doesn’t exist. Focus on making progress instead.  As Jim Rohn once said, “Success is steady progress toward one’s personal goals.”

Some one asked me once, “what is success to you?” I answered by saying “When you strip everything away to it’s core, success is just progress.  If you are constantly improving, moving forward, and progressing in life, you are being successful”.  When you focus on developing yourself in all areas of your life, over come barriers and work on progressing financially, economically, educationally, spiritually, emotionally, etc. then you are improving.

You are successful when you are gradually making strides toward a greater goal.

That’s much different than what most of society sees success as isn’t it?  Rather than waiting until you have finally accomplished the goal, under this definition you can celebrate your success as you achieve progressive smaller steps and move towards the eventual accomplishment of your longer term goals.

In other words, you can be successful every day so long as you are taking positive actions and making progress towards your goals.   Source  – Leadership Management Australasia

Success is about making progress.

Without continual growth & progress, words like improvement, achievement, & success have no meaning. ~ B. Franklin

It doesn’t matter what your goals or dreams are, just focus on getting one step closer or 1% better everyday. If you stay passionate, persistent, and patient on what your are doing and keep the end in mind you’ll achieve all of your goals in time.

Remember, everything worth doing, having or becoming ALWAYS takes more time and action than you think.

You’ve Got To Be Before You Can Do And Have – Paradigm Shift

The Paradigm Shift – BE. DO. HAVE.

It’s that simple…

“You’ve got to be before you can do and do before you can have. ~ Zig Ziglar”

I want to share with you a simple concept, a little shift in the way you might be thinking.

Most people believe if they “have” more time, money, love, or whatever, then they can finally “do” something, which will allow them to “be” the type of person they want to be. But, in actuality, they have it completely backwards. You can’t operate from a “have a thing” mindset first.  It will not produce the results you are looking for.

Your best thinking got you exactly where you are today. It’s time to  change the process and change your thinking.…

It’s common thinking that once we HAVE something; love, a better job, a new car, more time or whatever, then we can DO what we want and BE happy.  But, that’s like taking your car for a ride, then starting it and then putting gas into it.  It just doesn’t make any sense and it just doesn’t work that way.

Needless to say, it’s a recipe for failure and in real life it means MASSIVE RESISTANCE.

The BE DO HAVE Paradigm Shift is the path of least resistance…

One of my mentors Patrick Precourt says it best; BE who you truly are, DO what feels right and you will HAVE abundance that is in complete harmony and alignment with your deepest values.

This one simple shift could change everything in your life!

Stop operating on this belief system. “If I do what I need to do, I’ll get what I want to have, then I can be the person I’ve always dreamed of being”.  If a person continues to operate on that belief system, I can guarantee that you will never get ahead and life will always be an uphill battle.

[tweetthis]In life, you do not have to do anything. It’s all a question of what you are being.[/tweetthis]

Who do I need to be?

Once you get really clear about what you want and why you want it, the next question is not ‘what do I need to do?’ but ‘who do I need to be?’  Or you could simply ask yourself one more question…

‘What kind of a person would have access to these kind of outcomes?’

Ask yourself: What kind of person writes a Best Selling Book?  What kind of person becomes a successful real estate investor?  What kind of person becomes a millionaire? What kind of person quits their job and starts their own business? What kind of person makes it in their field of expertise, when most work hard for very little recognition or reward?

What do they believe about themselves?
What do they stand for?
What is their relationship with money?
What kind of self discipline do they have?
How do they walk into a room?

If you can be this kind of person, then why can’t you have the same results as they do?

The answer is you can.  Just tell yourself…

“It is not what do I need to HAVE before I can start, or what work do I need to DO… but who do I need to BE!  Who do I need to become?  What kind of person has the outcomes and success that I want?”

Today’s the day you become the person you need to be in order to do what you need to do to have the life you want.   I believe in you!  Live free. Live Strong!

The Secret To Getting Unstuck And Achieving Results FAST!

The Secret To Getting Unstuck And Achieving Results FAST!

Are you stuck?  Are you having trouble taking things to the next level?

Maybe things are moving just a little bit slower than you would like in terms of actually seeing the results you want in your life, health, finances, relationships or business?  Is that you?

Well the good news is that you can get unstuck and you can do it fairly quickly if you’re committed and willing to take massive action.   That’s right, there is actually a way to attract more abundance, become powerful at work, or finally get the love you’ve been searching for your whole life.

Want to know what the secret is to getting unstuck and achieving results much faster than ever before?

The reason why you’re stuck is that you are no longer growing!  You are comfortably uncomfortable and are not stretching the boundaries to what you want to accomplish.  The best way to fix this is to move out of your comfort zone.  All personal growth happens outside your comfort zone and once a mind is expanded it will never return back to it’s original size.  So the more you get outside your comfort zone the more your mind will expand, the more you will grow.  The only way we can grow is by always putting ourselves in new situations that make us feel awkward or uncomfortable!

Rapid Personal Momentum Level – By Michael Bernoff

Michael Bernoff is a leader in the personal and professional development industry.  He’s also a mentor of mine and during the past decade he has been instrumental in dramatically enhancing the quality of thousands of lives.  He created the concept of RPM (Rapid Personal Momentum).  RPM is a way to divide your personal comfort zone up like a tachometer below.  It’s a way to rate your comfort zone as it pertains to your life!

YOU’RE COMFORT ZONE!

The area we consider the comfort zone is the 1-7 area…this is an area where we will experience limited or slow growth.   The area outside your comfort zone is the 7-8 area.  The more you enter the 7-8 area the quicker results your will have.  This is where we experience fast growth!

So what is your RPM or Rapid Personal Momentum Level?

Here are a couple examples of how to get unstuck by getting outside your comfort zone!

1. Comfort Zone: You have a goal to work out daily but can’t seem to stick to you a regular routine. You continue working out 1 or 2  days a week…if that, and never really get any momentum.  You continually put off working out because your inner voice is saying…”You’ll get to it later” and we all know “later” never comes, right? Action…

Get Outside Your Comfort Zone: You hire a personal trainer today,  right now… in the next five minutes and your first workout is tomorrow. They hold your feet to the fire and working out daily becomes a habit and you become a stronger more confident person in the process.

2. Comfort Zone: You want to eat healthier but still eat things you’re not supposed to be eating.  You’re okay with this and tell yourself  you’ll eat better next time..REALLY? Action…

Get Outside Your Comfort Zone: You hire a nutritionist to help you plan healthy meals on a daily basis so you can stay on point and finally lose those pounds you’ve been trying to lose for 3 years now. You look better than ever and people are starting to notice you and your confidence is soaring through the roof.

You see my point here right?

Here is exert from some personal development training I took with Michael Bernoff

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO RAISE YOUR RAPID PERSONAL MOMENTUM (RPM) LEVEL: Expanding your comfort zone isn’t quite the same as building self-confidence. However, the two do fit together rather nicely. The one begets the other. So many people feel stuck in a rut… bored from a routine that is safe and comfortable but not very exciting. Fear of falling flat on your face or of looking foolish stops you from reaching out beyond that cozy little life you’ve created for yourself. If your goal is to expand your comfort zone, then you must think positive while doing these. Remember that nothing really bad can happen to you if you are smart in how you go about trying new things. It’s all just new adventures. Become like a curious child and have some fun.

1) Join Toastmasters or take a theater class. The idea is to force yourself into public speaking. By learning how to project your voice and how to think clearly while on stage, you will be able to better conduct yourself in business and when getting your point across to others. This will build a lot of self-confidence, which will help you to really push your comfort zone in regards to speaking out in front of others. Everyone is always terrified at first. Public speaking is the number one phobia in America. You will be shocked to discover just how much fun this can be. You’ll get bit by the acting bug or the public speaking bug before you know it. It will most likely become a new hobby that you’ll love dearly.

2) Drive home a different route every day for a week and shop at completely new grocery store. By breaking out of your normal daily routine, you become aware of just how much time you spend tucked away safely within your comfort zone. Breaking out of your rut can be as simple as trying a new restaurant or rearranging the furniture at home. You can trade bedrooms with one of your roommates or move into a new home. Go on vacation to a completely unfamiliar location. The idea here is to change your physical environment and to mix up your overall sensory experiences. By forcing yourself into new locations, you not only become aware of how attached you are to your favorite old haunts, but you also force yourself to see the world from a new angle.

3) Learn a new sport. This one has to be done with respect to your age and physical health. For some it could be an extreme sport like sky diving. For others it could be learning to play tennis or to play golf. The idea is that you again force yourself into meeting other people while pushing yourself physically into unknown territories. You should obviously pick something that you’ll enjoy doing and that won’t hurt. If you have bad knees don’t take up running or high impact aerobics. If you are bored out of your mind while watching baseball, then you probably aren’t going to enjoy playing it either. You also need to consider honestly whether or not you are a team player. You might be better off learning to rock climb rather than to play flag football. Whatever you choose, commit yourself to learning it completely and be safe.

4) Compliment three strangers each day for a week. This isn’t the same as public speaking. This is private speaking. In order to do this one correctly, you have to become fully aware of the people around you. You’d be amazed at just how many strangers you pass every day. You also have to think of genuinely nice things to say. It’s not enough to simply speak to three strangers, but to compliment them forces you to think about the person before you speak to them. We can randomly say, “Nice weather we’re having” to everyone we meet. That’s not really connecting and concentrating on another human being. Force yourself outside of your comfort zone so as to tell strangers that you noticed something good about them. You will make their day and your own. You may even find yourself with some new friends by the end of the week.

5) Volunteer. Volunteer at an elderly care center, a children’s cancer clinic, or an AIDS hospice center, etc. They will love you for just showing up and in conversing with them you’ll learn all about people’s real regrets in life. People never say, “I really did experience too many adventures.” Instead, they almost always comment on all of the adventures they denied themselves. They talk of how if they had it to do all over again… how they’d be more spontaneous and loving. There’s nothing quite like seeing folks at the end of their life to make you really appreciate your own. Spend some time giving of yourself to those who don’t have a lot of time left and you’ll soon come to realize how much the world has to offer. Perhaps you will want to take a bigger bite out of life before it’s too late?

All of these ideas are variations on the same theme. You are to practice becoming spontaneous.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.  A Return to Love – Marianne Williamson

Once you’ve tried a few things on this list, than make a list of 100 things that you want to accomplish before you die and start doing them. Have a wonderful time with this concept.

There’s no reason to expand your comfort zone so as to take on more work duties or more responsibilities. You will have enough of that thrust upon you in life. You’re going to do this one for your own happiness and nobody else’s. You are too self-censoring and too routine for your own good and happiness.

Here’s a great poem on “your comfort zone”!

I used to have a comfort zone
Where I knew I couldn’t fail
The same four walls of busy work
Were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things
I’d never done before,
But stay inside my comfort zone
And paced the same old floor.

I said it didn’t matter,
That I wasn’t doing much
I said I didn’t care of things
Like diamonds, furs, and such.

I claimed to be so busy
With the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for
Something special of my own.

I couldn’t let me life go by,
Just watching others win.
I held my breath and stepped outside
And let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength
I’d never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone “goodbye”
And closed and locked the door.

If you are in a comfort zone,
Afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were
At one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise,
Can make your dreams come true.
Greet your future with a smile,
Success is there for you!

Give yourself permission to expand your wings so you can fly a little higher and little further to see what else is out there.  The best way to do this is to increase your RPM and get outside your comfort zone often.

3 Things To Boost Your Confidence

boost your confidence

Having confidence in yourself is one of the great secrets to success. Think about it…

Have you ever met a truly confident person that didn’t have the world as their oyster? Confident people enjoy massive success, even when they encounter life’s inevitable challenges along the way.  They didn’t get confident over night, they learned how to become more confident by doing three very basic things.   Having confidence is like rocket fuel and when you make it part of your core, NOTHING can stop you.

If you want to succeed at life, health, business, relationships or anything else the most important thing you need is CONFIDENCE! You need to show up in life and make the effort despite of your fears.

There is a limitless supply of confidence at your fingertips… you just need to know how to tap into it.

Have you ever wished inside your mind that you felt more confident in certain situations? We all have. And fortunately, confidence is something that absolutely anybody can have…because it is a skill you can develop. You should always be looking to improve yourself and your confidence.   Becoming confident isn’t a one time event, it’s not a thing that you can just pick up at the local store.  Gaining confidence in your life is a process, it’s something you always need to be working at.  Are you ready to feel more confident?

IMAGINE for just a moment…

What could you do with your life if you were certain you were capable of skillfully accomplishing everything you set your mind to?

What great things will come your way when you are more confident about your decisions and your actions when it comes to your life, relationships, professional success and your finances?

It’s all possible when you learn to become more confident.  So how do you do it?  It all boils down to three very simple things and when you get good at doing these three things you’ll become unstoppable.  In this blog post I am going to share with you 3 simple things that will allow you to develop your confidence so that you can achieve the life you desire.

Do These Three Things To Boost Your Confidence

Warning: You will gain knowledge that will give you the confidence to do anything, ask for anything, and achieve anything! Nothing will be able to stop you.  So are you ready to skyrocket you confidence levels through the roof?

Here’s the first thing you need to start getting good at….

Get Good At Making Decisions

How is your decision making muscle?   Are you decisive?  Do you make decisions fast and without hesitation?  Or are you the type of person that takes a long time to decide.  Are you wishy washy on your decisions?  Do you say the word “MAYBE” a lot?  Successful people are decisive, they make decisions fast because they are confident in their decision making ability.  To build confidence the first thing you need to do is to get good at making decisions.

Decide to be decisive. Making clear and fast decisions will help build the belief in your mind that you are decisive. Being clear on what you want has power and making an unquestionable decision to get it gives you energy…it builds confidence. This absolute energy will attract the resources and support you need to carry out that decision.

When you are clear and sharp on your decision, others will not second guess you; instead, they’ll back you up.

Developing the ability to be decisive is a process, it’s something you will need to practice.  It is simply a mindset; a mental attitude that will grow and persist with time.    Decisiveness comes with the decision that you are Decisive. Decide today and then take action!

It is the moment of decision that your destiny is shaped ~Tony Robbins

Start Taking Immediate Action

Once you get better at being decisive you need start taking massive action.  You need to get out there and just do it! Make the decision and start doing something.  Start take action towards your goals and desires…get your blood pumping and your confidence increasing.  Once you see results you’ll feel so great about what you accomplished and you’ll want to do more or go on and do something else felling empowered in the process!

Successful and confident people donʼt always say or do the right thing, they just do, they act!  They don’t wait for everything to be perfect before they take action.  They may screw up and fall down, but they are doing.  If they make a mistake they understand itʼs just one necessary step to getting to where they want to go.  You need to taken action and be okay with failure because when you fail you fall forward, you learn from your mistake and in turn you become what?  You guessed it…’MORE CONFIDENT’.

Following Through – This Is Where Most People Fail

Following through on what you decide and taking the necessary action to achieve that decision is the easy part.  The hard part is following through on the action that is necessary for you to succeed.  It’s about going through the mundane, it’s about staying focused and committed to the decision you made.  It’s all about following through.

And YES!  This is where most people fail.  Think about it!!  Has there ever been a time in your life where you decided to do something but didn’t follow through?

How about this for an example…

Have you ever wanted to lose weight and or get in shape but gave up only a few weeks or a month into your goal? Perhaps you joined a gym, started to run, started to work out and even began eating better.

Does this sound familiar? You start to feel good about yourself, maybe you drop a few pounds too!  But after a couple weeks or a month all of sudden you find yourself going to the gym less, you stopped running and started eating whatever you wanted again. You didn’t follow through and you didn’t lose the weight you had hoped you would.  The only reason this happened is because you didn’t continue to take the necessary action that’s required to achieve the result you were looking for.  You decided what you wanted to do, you started taking the steps to make it a reality, but you didn’t finish what you started…you didn’t follow through!

Following through on your decision is the most important thing you can do.  When you accomplish what you set out to achieve it empowers you to continue on.  It builds confidence.  Imagine if you met your goal and you lost all the weight you wanted to lose, imagine how great that would make you feel, how good you would look, and how confident you’d feel.

That’s what following through will do for you.  It’s what will set you apart from everyone else because most people aren’t not willing to do.

When you do the 3 things outlined above you’ll empower yourself to skillfully handle any situation and achieve any goal you set for yourself. Decide. Take Action.  Follow Through.

The Power of An Accountability Partner

the power of accountability

If your looking to create success in any business or really any area of life, one of the biggest things you can do is create a system for accountability and get an accountability partner.

An accountability partner is a person who coaches another person in terms of helping the other person keep a commitment!  So let me ask you….

Do you have someone who pushes you?  If not you should.

An accountability partner can come in any shape or size. It could be a paid business coach. It could be a friend from childhood. It could be a random stranger you met on Facebook a few years ago .  Whoever it is, make sure they can actually help you accomplish your goal.  They should be able to help you stay committed and responsible in reaching your goals.

And as a partner you should be helping THEM stay committed and responsible for meeting their goals.

They push you, you push them!

This could be a study partner or a workout partner.  Some form of accountability from another person that would force you to take action towards your goals and dreams.

The act of accountability is to assist you along your journey to success. It requires you to accept responsibility for your actions and to stay true to your commitments. People who are unaccountable make excuses, put things off and never reach their goals. They create a negative energy for the only purpose of deflecting the root cause of the problem… themselves.

Have you ever had a personal trainer?

If you never have, I’m sure there was a time you had a workout schedule that you never did.   You put it off until “tomorrow”.  We’ve all been there…

But if  had a workout scheduled, and had a personal trainer or person there you’d probably get that workout done….RIGHT?  That’s why having an accountability partner can be so beneficial.   Coaches, mentors, and trainers can make great accountability partners but I think the best accountability partner is someone who is at the same level as you are, someone who is as equally committed to success in whatever endeavor you are both doing.

It doesn’t matter what it’s for.  It could be for school, the gym, work, running, or if you have a home based business.  In business, especially if you’re self employed –  you should absolutely have an accountability partner and here’s why:

I’m self employed and one of the things that I think we lack most is accountability. Many of us don’t have an office to go to. We don’t have a supervisor to report to. We don’t have to show any what we are doing, our numbers or our results.

We don’t have to!  If we take a day off, no one’s gonna know.  So with that being said…

One of the key principals I’ve seen successful people do is that they find an accountability partner, a workout partner…they find someone who is on a similar path, similar trajectories, similar goals, and they push you. They don’t allow you to do less than you’re capable of doing, and you do the same for them.

accountability partner for business and lifeWhen you find an accountability partner who is at a similar level as you are you’ll be more authentic with that workout partner because you’ll probably share the same goals and have the same objectives.

Perhaps its someone in your organization that you’ve met at an event, or it’s someone in your local market.  Maybe they’re a competitor, a friend, or romantic partner that you develop a relationship with and you push each other, you hold each other accountable, you challenge each other.  You don’t allow the other person to accept less than what they’re capable of. You be that coach that believes in them and they are the coach that believes in you. You check in with each other daily, weekly, monthly, and you hold each other accountable.

This has worked for me and it works very well for many of the successful people who are building their own businesses so I’m sure it will work well for you.

So go out and find that accountability partner, someone who hold your feet to the fire when it comes to do taking daily action towards your goals and dreams.

If you have a lot of self discipline you can hold yourself accountable, but if not, may be beneficial to have an accountability partner along the way!

Revealed: Changing your beliefs can change your life

Change Your Beliefs And Change Your Life

change your belief change your lifeA perfect classic example is obviously Roger Bannister. In 1954 Roger Bannister became the first person in the world to run the 4 minute mile. Before 1954, scientists and doctors all agreed that it was impossible for the human body to run a mile under four minutes. Studies showed not only that it was impossible but it was extremely dangerous. If you attempted to run a mile in under 4 minutes your heart might explode. Your nervous system would break down and you could collapse and drop dead.

But Roger Bannister had a dream, a goal, and he didn’t believe what all the doctors and scientists were saying.  He was self disciplined and continue to train and work towards breaking this barrier. And he proved it by being the first human to run a mile in under four minutes.

Now here is the cool and interesting part of the story. After Roger Bannister proved it was possible to run a 4 minute mile then over the next 12 months dozens of other athletes also ran a mile under four minutes. You see nobody believed it could be done but as soon as 1 person did it everyone’s belief system changed.

“What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve.”
Norman Vincent Peale

Here is how it works: Research psychology of performance has proven that there is a definitive link between the mind and the body, and what you think and believe will affect how you behave and perform, thus shape your entire life.

Again, if the belief was it’s impossible to run a mile in under four minutes, your body will reinforce that by proving it over and over and over again. For all the attempts that were made nobody could do it. As soon as one person disproved that belief now all the sudden, dozens of athletes did it in the whole next year….powerful!!!

The same process holds true for any goal, dream, desire. The impossible is possible. YOU just have to belief, take massive action, stay consistent and reap the rewards.

This story of Roger Bannister is proof that the mind and the body work in complete harmony. What you think and believe about yourself is what will manifest in your reality.

[pullquote align=”normal”]Confidence breeds success and success comes from trying, failing and learning from your failures. The way to become great at anything in life is to consistently rehearse and practice something you would love to become great at. To be confident you need to stop playing the victim and start playing like a creator. Change your mindset and realize that life doesn’t happen to you but you happen to life. Slow down and be present in everything you do.  Put the time in that others won’t so you can do and accomplish things that others can’t! [/pullquote]
