3 New Year’s Resolutions to Help You Develop an Entrepreneurial Mindset

Creating an Entrepreneurial Mindset

Over 31% of Americans abandon their New Year’s resolutions by the second week of January. As an entrepreneur, you know the meaning of discipline, which means you’re likely not in that camp.

If you are, though, it’s time to get serious about your growth. Your success relies on you now, so feed your entrepreneurial mindset with the best New Year’s resolutions to start the new year off strong.

Read on for New Year’s resolutions every entrepreneur needs in 2019!

1. Stop Comparing Yourself

With the prevalence of social media today, it’s easy to get caught up comparing yourself to others. Don’t forget that, on social media, people share only their highlights, not their failures.

There’s a whole world of hard work and failed attempts behind every achievement. The entrepreneurial-minded know that. Others make it look easy, but they’re hustling just as hard as you are.

Don’t get caught up feeling like you’re not as far along as you should be.

2. Stay Ahead of the Curve

How much focus do you place on professional development? In traditional office settings, employers often boast the opportunities they create for their employees’ professional development. There’s no reason you shouldn’t get the same.

The only difference: you’re your own boss now. That means it’s up to you to stay on top of trends and keep growing in business.

Look up local business conferences and RSVP to at least one. You should also start listening to entrepreneurial podcasts during drive hours, too!

Listening to podcasts during a commute is a great way to make use of time otherwise wasted. Whether your commute is to a co-work space or to a meeting with a client, podcasts will help you stay in that entrepreneur mentality during all hours of the day.

3. Get Delegating

You can’t build an empire by yourself. Of course, if you have the mind of an entrepreneur, you’re probably trying to.

Entrepreneurs work harder than most. Why? Because most traditional workplaces delegate tasks to others.

You might not have a team assembled yet, and that’s okay. There are ways to delegate without having to pay an arm and a leg out to others.

Hire a VA to help keep things running smoothly, for instance. You can also hire a content writer to write your blog posts for you. Social media managers (or even an intern!) can help you keep up on that front.

Think of it this way: if your hourly rate is $100, and you’re spending that hour writing a blog post, you’re making $0. If you hire someone to write it for you for $50, now that hour belongs to you again to work. You might pay out $50, but you’ll make $50, which is more than you’d have made if you spent it writing.

Delegating can be hard to stomach for an entrepreneur, but it’s actually the key to scaling your business.
